What does a Timing Belt do?
The timing belt is often known as the cambelt. It is a flat rubber belt with internal teeth, and its job is to transfer drive from the crankshaft (in the lower part of the engine) to the camshaft (at the top). The accurate position of the belt on its driving sprockets allows the engine valves to open and close at the exact moment to ensure peak performance from the engine.
 
If only he'd booked the car in for a timing belt change!

You may not know that a timing belt can fail without warning, and the best way of preventing this is to have the belt replaced every five years or 72,000 miles, whichever is the sooner. By doing this, you are saving your engine from a potentially major repair bill should the belt break – or even having to replace the engine entirely.

 

At William A. Lewis Renault we are able to offer you a fixed price to replace not only the timing belt on your vehicle, but also the tensioner pulley and idler pulley, which are so often the cause of timing belt failure.

The repairs carried out on your vehicle are guaranteed for a period of twelve months from the date of your invoice. This applies to the standard of workmanship and the genuine Renault parts fitted.
